Sahn Ward Attorneys Successfully Assist Developer in Obtaining Approvals for Memory Care Assisted Living Facility in Lake Success

Tuesday, May 17, 2016

UNIONDALE, NEW YORK — Sahn Ward Coschignano, PLLC has announced that Michael Sahn, the Firm’s Managing Partner, and Jason Horowitz, a Partner with the Firm, successfully represented The Engel Burman Group in obtaining all the development approvals necessary to construct a new 88-unit Bristal Assisted Living facility in the Village of Lake Success. The facility, which is currently under construction on the north Service Road of the LIE between Community Drive and Lakeville Road, will specialize in Alzheimer’s disease, cognitive and memory care.

Mr. Sahn and Mr. Horowitz worked in close collaboration with the Village in obtaining complex land use approvals. The approvals included the crafting of a new overlay zoning district, incentive zoning approvals, site plan and architectural review, environmental review and related approvals, as well as permits from Nassau County and New York State for infrastructure improvements for water, drainage and sanitary facilities, curb cuts and traffic control.

This facility will be the first of its kind in Nassau County and will provide opportunities for research and new care protocols for residents with special needs for cognitive and medical care through a research partnership with Northwell’s Feinstein Institute for Medical Research.

“As a Firm, we value the opportunity to represent The Engel Burman Group in this first-of-its-kind project and draw upon the expertise of our attorneys to accomplish the establishment of a facility directed to caring for an ever-growing segment of the population that suffers from these infirmities,” Mr. Sahn said.
